Come dance with Roaring Jelly!
Roaring Jelly is a "community" contra dance band that has been playing together in the Boston area since 1970. We play for a monthly dance in Lexington and appear occasionally at other dances in the area. If you want to know what contra dancing is, click here.
All the Friday dances in Lexington have a brief teaching session at 7:45. The rear door, by the parking lot, is the one to use, and is usually open by 7:30.
Our dances are great fun, even if you have never danced before! A typical evening consists mostly of contra dances, with a few squares and maybe circle dances thrown in.
We are always looking for musicians to join the band. If you play an acoustic instrument and are interested in playing with us, click here.
For more information, please call Deborah Gerstein at 781-259-0753, or email Michael at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our policy has long been that anyone can sit in at a practice session if invited by a member. We're fairly lax in enforcing this, and you can easily get an invitation by contacting anyone mentioned here.
We celebrated our 35th anniversary and also our first CD release in March 2006.
