Robert Petrie (1767-1830) was born in Kirkmichael, Perthshire.
Little is known about his life. He was a violinist and a composer of
tunes. He published his tunes (and tunes of various others who
weren't identified) in four collections, from 1790 to 1805.
In 2004 and 2005, Steve Wyrick of Concord, California transcribed
the first three of Petries collection to ABC. He sent me copies as
they were finished, and also sent them to several other people.
Maybe someday I'll get Petrie's 4th collection, too.
