Microsoft Software Patent
Microsoft has acquired a software patent for "1-Click destruction"
the company reported earlier today in a press release. The patent is
for "a technique that will enable a user with a single mouse click
with no further interaction to execute any malicious scripting code
in an email or another document." Software patents are controversial
since they often cover obvious techniques, but analysts comment that
in this case there is no known prior art and Microsoft truly
innovated the technique themselves. Apple Computer Inc. has been
rumored to be in negotiations to license the patent, but officials
from Apple refused to comment on the matter.
