This directory contains the tunes  and  dances  in  Thompson's  "Twenty  four
Country  Dances  (for  the  Year  1804)",  as transcribed by John Chambers in
August 2014.

The fie names are of the form PPN_Title.abc, where PP is the page number and N
is the tune number on the page (1 or 2).  The tunes in this collection aren't
themselves numbered.

Most of the tunes use :||: at the end of all phrases, which is translated  to
modern  repeat  notation with |: at the start of a phrase, :| at the end of a
phrase, and the initial |: omitted  if  there's  a  partial-measure  "pickup"
present.   Some  final  note  lengths  have been quietly adjusted to make the
rhythm work right in ABC player software.

The convention of leaving initial articles (the, a, an) in  lower  case  with
the  first "significant" word capitalized is used here.  But the program that
combines them into the alltunes.abc file has  been  told  to  capitalize  the
titles, so those who prefer their articles capitalized should also be happy.

This book contains one unusual abbreviation: "second" is occasionally written
as "sec.d" with the "d" raised.  But mostly the usual "2d" is used.
