Helping Out

One thing can make this project work- help from volunteers. If you would like to enter some tunes into ABC format, please send email to John Chambers. There is a document here to explain keying standards, who is working on what, and what our reasonable goals for completion are. Data entry will be primarily done using text editors or one of the various ABC packages such as ABC2WIN. Once a good amount of data has been entered, we will need people to help us check the data entry for accuracy as well. If you are a good sight reader, please get in touch so we can help make sure that the music we enter is as accurate as possible.

Finally, there is the server-side. An ABC parser and search engine is being tested. If you know how to program well and might be good at creating a graphical music notation display from parsed ABC, we'd love to hear from you! Don't forget that this will be a free resource for anyone on the net to use, as long as the archive is able to provide web space for the exhibit. Remember to check back here often- progress is updated as I recieve informations, and samples will be displayed for you to see how things are coming along.
